Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is more frequent in acromegalic patients and occurs earlier. Its pathophysiology is original with insulinoresistance induced by growth hormone (GH) excess but without metabolic syndrome. Control of acromegaly is not always associated with remission of diabetes, but improves glycemic control and allows reduction of treatments. Diabetologists should be able to screen acromegaly among diabetic patients because diagnosis of this disease is underestimated and too delayed.
