Abstract
- Water intake in elderly population can reduce due to a decrease in thirst sensation that is caused by the dysfunction of the thirst-regulating mechanism.
- Lower water intake is the cause of sarcopenia and a possible risk factor in the elderly population.
- Water intake from food (g/d) and fluid (mL/d) in this study were significantly lower in elderly patients with sarcopenia.
