Abstract
Eating disorders among the elderly are a complex issue, and they need to be integrated into a global approach to the individual. Addressing the regressive dynamic occurring in the pathologies of ageing, often accompanied by eating disorders, we explored the value of anorexic symptoms, and sought to understand the emergence and the meaning of these behaviors in the light of the subject's personal history. Using a clinical case, we distinguish the aspects that appear essential for the understanding of the eating disorder as a symptom of an attachment disorder, and we suggest a few therapeutic perspectives in the provision of care for these subjects experiencing serious difficulties.
