Abstract
An experiment was conducted over six months in a geriatric long-term care facility to help staff cope with mourning issues. A semi-structured discussion group was created to share end-of-life narratives following deaths, backed up by psychoanalytic theory to create a framework and analyse the corpus of texts thus produced. The results point to the need to distinguish the threshold to the accompaniment of the end-of-life from end-of-life care itself. They also highlighted the importance of providing venues enabling subjects relating to death to be broached in facilities that are particularly exposed to the death of inmates.
