Abstract
If the pain mechanisms of the rotator cuff pathologies are similar to the classical mechanisms of nociceptive pains involving nociceptive receptors, the type of stimuli triggering pain pathways are not well-known and source of debates. If the mechanical hypothesis due to overuse of tendons has been predominant, nowaday, a lot of arguments suggest an inflammatory mechanism including immune cells, cytokines and a potential central sensitization.
