Abstract
This study demonstrated a substantial proportion of Bacteroides (22.5-100% depending on the species) and 50.0% of Parabacteroides strains exhibiting resistance to clindamycin. The clindamycin MIC for resistant strains in each case was ≥256 mg/L. Resistance to clindamycin in Bacteroides and Parabacteroides species is correlated mainly with the presence of the ermF gene.
