Abstract
Three factors work in conjunction in systemic autoimmune diseases that imply a greater risk of developing cardiovascular disease: early and rapidly progressing arteriosclerosis, the high prevalence of traditional CVR factors, and the clinical activity of these diseases. However, treatments used to control these diseases also have an effect, and can alter the CVR profile in these patients.
