Abstract
In eyes with moderate to severe keratoconus, the tomography of Bowman layer was significantly steeper than that of the epithelium; thus, epithelial debridement increased the magnitude of anterior corneal keratometry, astigmatism, and prolateness. These data suggest that the corneal epithelium smooths the underlying Bowman layer irregularity in keratoconus.
