The incidence of cataract surgery was lower after limited vitrectomy, which had a longer interval until cataract surgery compared with extensive vitrectomy. These findings are consistent with the computational model of oxygen consumption and transport and suggest clinical strategies to mitigate postvitrectomy cataractogenesis.
