Abstract
The results of the studies showed the existence of a relationship between the intervention with antioxidant and improved parameters set in each of glaucoma patients. Heterogeneity between studies in the administration of antioxidant, different doses and types of antioxidant found; derivatives being the most used polyphenols. But in all studies an improvement was observed in the control parameters and monitoring the experimental group compared to the placebo group. In conclusion, we suggest that a therapeutic and protective strategy based on natural neuroprotective (antioxidants), have direct or indirect beneficial effects on the evolution of the development of glaucoma. It seems reasonable to suggest from these human studies evidence the importance and benefits of consuming antioxidants through supplements or enriched in people with glaucoma or at risk of suffering from diet.
