Abstract
This case highlights the importance of following the clinical practice guidelines and the standard procedures for the diagnosis of B. pertussis, while the epidemiological context of patients should always be considered. It is important to correctly identify the aetiological agent, as the specific treatment is based on the aetiology, and both of them determine the prognosis of the patients.
