Abstract
Surgical treatment of oligo metastatic lung cancer is frequently debated during thoracic oncology call staff. There are few data in literature based on small number and heterogeneous patients. Recently, phase II randomized trial describes a benefit for the patients according to an aggressive surgical treatment. However, oligo metastatic cancer is difficult to define to select the patients, to select a management based on a local and general treatment. The best clinical sequence is not well defined. Some points seem to be more essential: a node extension N0-1 of the initial disease, a single metastatic disease (M1b stage), a good performance status and a possible control of the disease by chemotherapy. In these rare situations, the association between a general treatment and a local treatment of the primary tumor and metastasis could be organized with benefits in term of survival. The recent progresses of local and general treatments in terms of morbidity and efficacy allow new perspectives in the management of oligo metastasis lung cancer.
