Abstract
In our case, the patient did not have any of the aforementioned commonly described risk factors. The asymptomatic status of the patient for so long is remarkable, as well as the functional status of the prosthesis despite the extrusion, which could be secondary to a resolved, mild infectious process. In the absence of clear risk factors, more studies are need on the pathophysiology of the extrusion. This could be secondary to an immunological response to a foreign body or an anatomical predisposition to extrude due to a ventral weakness of the tunica albuginea.
