Abstract
- Macromolecules infused into ventricles are distributed in brain paravascular space.
- Macromolecules are found intracellularly in cells of blood brain barrier and neurons.
- These macromolecules are subsequently cleared into blood by transport across the endothelium.
- Pathways of macromolecular clearance are similar in normal and hydrocephalic animals.
- Clearance is delayed in hydrocephalus with buildup of molecules in paravascular space.
