Prevalence of dissociative symptoms in adolescent psychiatric inpatients

Dissociative symptoms were highly prevalent and typically had not been previously diagnosed clinically. Results suggest a link between accumulated exposure to various types of traumas and severity of dissociation. Following this, clinical examination of adolescents should take into account post-traumatic and/or dissociative symptomatology.
