Abstract
Fibrinogen plasma concentration at admission before labour does not predict severe postpartum haemorrhage in a general obstetric population. Fibrinogen concentration does not decrease significantly during normal labour. Excessive postpartum bleeding is mainly as a result of obstetric complications.
