Quand l’anorexie n’est plus seulement féminine

RésuméL’anorexie se définit avant tout par un rapport pathologique à la nourriture, tant d’un point de vue qualitatif que quantitatif. De façon similaire à celle de la jeune femme, l’anorexie chez l’homme n’est pas un état uniforme. Peu étudiée, en raison de la rareté des cas observés, l’anorexie masculine représente approximativement dix pour cent des cas, tous âges confondus. Un tel diagnostic n’est, par ailleurs, pas toujours posé – de prime abord – chez l’homme. Par l’intermédiaire de notre étude et sur la base d’un cas clinique, nous avons exploré diverses dimensions : attachement, défenses et coping (faire face au stress). Notre objectif était de comprendre l’intrication de chacune d’elle dans la pathologie anorexique chez l’homme.

The anorexia is defined, above all, by a pathological ratio in food, as well from a qualitative or quantitative point of view. In a similar way to that of the young woman, the anorexia in man is not a uniform state. Little studied because of the scarcity of cases observed, the male anorexia accounts for approximately 10% of the cases, all ages confounded. Such a diagnosis is not always the first being made in man. Through our study and on the basis of a clinical case, we explored various dimensions: attachment, defenses and coping. Our objective was to understand the role of each one in the anorexic pathology in man.
