Abstract
Transfontanellar ultrasonography is a simple, non-ionizing examination that provides useful information for brain exploration of premature newborns. In this particular population, at risk for intraventricular hemorrhage or periventricular leukomalacia, transfontanellar US contributes to neonatal management and is correlated with neurodevelopmental outcome. We will present the technique of this examination, then describe and illustrate the elementary ultrasound semiology of the main observed pathologies.
