Abstract
Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) is now crucial for many diagnostic imaging strategies. Initially developed and applied to the study of the brain, DWI is now routinely used for whole body imaging, both for the optimization of lesion detection and of functional response to treatment. So let us now take 15 minutes to better understand the physical principles of DWI. How can we limit image artifacts on DWI ? How can we improve our sequences ? How can we get the best out of these sequences for optimal patient management ? This is the key challenge of this article.
