Abstract
Otitis media with effusion is a common condition in children and has a very good prognosis in most of children. It requires active management in case of recurrent acute otitis media, conduction hearing loss with an air - bone gap greater than 30Â dB and a progressive tympanic drum retraction pocket. Most medical treatments are useless and only transtympanic tube insertion quickly clears the middle ear of glue. Special attention should be paid to children with an associated condition (mostly craniofacial malformation and sensorineural hearing loss).
