Abstract
Precision medicine is an approach wherein the therapy is focused on factors found in a particular individual, which can be genetic, biomarker, phenotypic or psychosocial, that enhance the chance of treatment success. However, this approach is usually based on biomarkers, which are characteristics that can be objectively measured and compared between individuals. Precision medicine has been used in different areas of medicine, including endocrinology. In this review, we will describe the biomarkers that may help to guide the management of pituitary tumors, with special focus on acromegaly, for which there are more data available.
