Abstract
Pb2+-doped phosphors exhibit tunable photoluminescence due to the sensitivity of their luminescence to the local environment. It is of great significance to tune the luminous color of Pb2+ doped phosphors for their applications by changing the local environment around Pb2+ in the host. In this work, the effect of Sr/Ba ratio on the crystal structure and luminescence properties of phosphors in Sr2-xBaxMgGeO7: Pb2+ was investigated in detail. The research results show that with the decrease of Sr/Ba ratio, the matrix lattice expands gradually and the peak wavelength of Pb2+ photoluminescence excitation and emission shifts to longer wavelength due the increase of Pb2+-O2â covalency. The present research results show that the excitation and emission of Pb2+ in Sr2-xBaxMgGeO7 can be regulated in a certain range. This is of great significance for the application of the luminescence of Pb2+. It also facilitates the sensitization of Pb2+ for the other ions in the ultraviolet spectral region.
