Abstract
The anatomy and physiology of the lens of horses is reviewed. Lens opacities or cataracts are important in horses as they may be progressive and associated with visual impairment. The types and causes for cataracts in horses are listed. The technique of phacoemulsification for removal of cataracts in horses is discussed in detail.
