Abstract
For successful cells-induced tissue regeneration, in addition to the research development of basic medicine and biology about cells, it is indispensable to create a local environment which enables cells to promote their proliferation and differentiation, resulting in induction of tissue regeneration. It is tissue engineering that is a biomedical technology or methodology to build this regeneration environment. Scaffold is a 3-dimensional porous material to assist the cell proliferation and differentiation. Growth factor is often useful to promote cell proliferation for tissue regeneration, while it can induce angiogenesis to supply oxygen and nutrients to cells transplanted or tissue grafted for their survival and biological maintenance. Drug delivery system (DDS) enables growth factor to enhance the in vivo efficacy. This paper briefly overviews significant role of cell scaffolding and DDS technology in tissue regeneration.
