Abstract
Not a day goes by in the life of a nursing executive without contemplation of the omnipresent nursing shortage. While chief nursing officers are distracted with perhaps more intriguing activities such as exciting clinical developments, building projects, or new service lines, the nagging concern is constant about how to ensure that there are enough nurses to sustain these activities.
