Abstract
Many drugs can reduce food oral intake in several ways: xerostomia, oral lesions, taste and smell disorders, gastro-intestinal disturbances and anorexia. This drug side effect is often unknown by practitioners. The reduced food oral intake can lead to important weight loss, specially in case of chronic drug therapy. Elderly are particularly exposed to this adverse effect. Chronically illness and a great number of drugs consumption are other risk factors. Practitioner must know this drug adverse effect to search it in case of weight loss and to treat it.
