Abstract
Muscle loss is a classic complication of the prolonged corticotherapy. It is bound activation of the muscular proteolytic pathways, in spite of powerful anti-inflammatory effect of the corticosteroids. Other molecules can lead muscle loss, of which the GnRH analogs and some cytotoxic drugs. But most treatments have an indirect effect on catabolism while complicating itself the most often of asthenia, anorexia, digestive side effects. It is the case of most drugs of chemotherapy, anti-infectious drugs, and all poly medication, in particular at the elderly people and with malnutrition. The patient's nutritional state must be therefore one of the elements of the assessment of the benefit-risk ratio of every treatment.
