Abstract
Determining when a person's medical condition causes a need for third-party assistance is a difficult problem for medical experts. The objective of this study was to describe the difficulties encontered and to present a new tool called Handi-aide which enables an interactive micro-situational analysis for evaluating needs. A case taken from a feasibility study is also presented. This study showed that Handi-aide is easy to use for the handicapped person and that the time required to complete the instrument is compatible with an expert medical examination. The validity of the tool is the object of an ongoing study.
