Abstract
Hydatid cysts are endemic in Tunisia. This disease, caused by Echinococcus granulosus, is usually found in the liver and the lung. Breast involvement is rare. We retrospective studied all cases of hydatid cyst of the breast diagnosed and treated in the Salah Azaïz Institute of Tunis between 1969 and 2002. Forty-six cases of mammary hydatid disease where collected in this period. All patients were women aged between 14 and 74 years. A well-bordered breast tumor was the most frequent clinical feature. All our patients went under surgery, and only two had recurrence of their cyst.
