Abstract
:The objective of our research is to determine if the índex of corporal mass can be used like indicator of the greasy mass in élite sportsmen, because is an optimum indicator in the individuáis not sportsmen. We have carried out 1026 anthropometríes of sportsmen in the province of Alicante (235 women and 791 men, 22,9 and 77,1% respectively) to valué his/her greasy percentage and his/her índex of corporal mass. The data were collected betv/een February of 2002 and March of 2003. The average of age of the sample was of 19,58+6.24 years, being the average in the male group of: 2I,2±8,09 years and in the female group of: 15,4±7,54. Subsequently v/e have grouped these anthropometríes according to the tables in function of the absolute valué of the BMI and índividually. With respect to the valúes of the porcentage greasy in men, we observe that him médium valué is of 11,95%±2,62. In women, médium valué of porcentage greasy is of: I4,73%±3,I3. The average valúes for the BMI in the men were of: 23,42±2,52. In women, the average valué were of: 21,84±2,69. In conclusión: although the índex of corporal mass is a good parameter to valué to the general population, it is not for vaiuing the sportsmen.
