Abstract
It appears from the recent case reports or from the limited number of case series, that acute poisoning with the newer AED results in an extremely low mortality and morbidity. As expected, a short-lasting central nervous system depression is a common finding, but few patients require mechanical ventilation. Seizures are occasionally observed. Serious cardiovascular events have been reported in a very few cases. Treatment is mainly suppportive.
