Abstract
We present a systematic review, based on the criteria of evidence-based medicine, on two aspects of enteral nutrition in critically ill patients: comparison of early versus delayed enteral nutrition and intragastric versus jejunal enteral nutrition. Sources consisted of randomized clinical trials published in the last 10 years. The effects on nosocomial infection/pneumonia, effectiveness as a caloric source, mean length of hospital stay and mortality are analyzed.
