Abstract
												Current review presents an overview of the compared lipoprotein metabolism and atherosclerosis development and their controversies in several animal models covering a wide phylogenetic spectrum. Orders are rodents (mice, rabbits, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs), birds (pigeons), cetartiodactyla (pigs), carnivores (dogs) and primates (macaques, Rhesus, African green monkey).
