Abstract
At the moment, we have a procedure to improve the effectiveness of in vitro fertilisation treatment. This procedure, called assisted hatching, is being included in assisted fertilisation laboratories to improve implantation rates. However, the different methods used, the different patient and embryo selection criteria, the low number of cases included in studies and the low number of embryologists trained in these procedures makes it difficult to assess the results between the different groups, which is essential to establish the real benefits of this technique. For this reason, in this article we attempt to describe and assess the usefulness in the light of the existing knowledge along with our personal experience.
