Abstract
Various and numerous haematological disorders are associated with stroke. However, they constitute only a small percentage among stroke aetiologies. Some of them have to be actively sought because their presence may imply specific therapy. The screening of others, such as the recently identified thrombophilia as mutations of factor V Leiden or G20210A of the prothrombine gene, should not be systematic but discussed in case of stroke in young patients without specific cause or in case of familial or personal history of thrombosis.
