Abstract
Gliomas are the most frequent primary tumors of the brain. The standard treatment includes surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but the outcomes of patients with these tumors have remained nearly unchanged for past years. Hopefully, recent advances in molecular biology are rising new clinical expectation for patients with brain tumors. Among the novel techniques in this new fleld of research a new fleld of research, the use of oncolytic viruses has been explored in different trials during last years. In the present review we analyze the advances in the understanding of the oncolytic viral therapy of gliomas.
