Abstract
Prosthetic denture insertion is a basic moment in the treatment of complete edentation during which technical and clinical controls of polymerised prostheses are performed prior to installation of the new prosthesis in the patient's mouth. Occlusal equilibration is one of the steps of this procedure and is performed according to precise and strict guidelines. In fact, occlusal equilibration is not simply an occlusal correction since it has a direct influence on manducation rehabilitation and on treatment timelessness. Only accurate occlusal equilibration, by its harmonious distribution of occlusal loads and orientation of the forces that ensure stabilization and prosthetic retention, may ensure long-term preservation of the prosthetic pressure areas.
