Abstract
External apical root resorption is a side-effect often associated with orthodontic treatment. These resorptions are multi-factorial.The aim of this article is to list both general risk factors and those related to orthodontic treatment, as described in the literature. A classification of these factors has been developed in order to improve the evaluation of patient risk before considering his/her treatment.
