Abstract
The Ortho Implant (IMTEC Corp, Ardmore, OK) is a recently developed mini-implant for orthodontic anchorage purposes. It is 1.8 mm in diameter and available in 6-, 8-, or 10-mm lengths. The dimensions allow placement in a wide variety of intraoral locations, which permits the addition of stable anchorage to the treatment of many different malocclusions. Placement and removal of the Ortho Implant is technically simple and can be accomplished by the orthodontist. Most complications with the temporary anchorage device relate to soft tissues surrounding the implant.
