Abstract
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) has served as a model for cancer research in children as well as adults. Because of the major advances in diagnosis, development of rational use of combination chemotherapy, specific central nervous system (CNS) preventive therapy and improved supportive care, the cure rate in childhood ALL has increased tremendously and at present approximately 70-80% of children with ALL are potentially cured. This manuscript provides an overview of current concepts in classification, prognosis and treatment of ALL.
