Blunt Abdominal Trauma in the Pediatric Patient

Trauma remains the leading cause of death and disability of children 1., 2.. Prompt diagnosis and management of abdominal injuries are critical for improving outcomes for injured children. The vast majority of pediatric injuries are the result of blunt trauma. This review will therefore focus on the epidemiology, diagnosis, and initial management of blunt abdominal trauma.
