Abstract
Sinus tarsus syndrome is a clearly defined entity and has an easy diagnosis and a simple medical treatment. It is characterized by pain and inestabiliy in the back heel. In most cases it appears after an ankle sprain, but it is also present in some inflammatory, degenerative and metabolic illnesses. The most useful complementary test is magnetic resonance imaging. The most practical treatment is corticoid injection in the incide of the sinus. Surgical treatment is only necessary on very few occasions.
