Abstract
Thoracic interventional radiology includes a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that are currently used since several years in pneumology. Among diagnostic procedures, the most common are CT-guided fine-needle punctures of the thorax, in particular in peripheral lung lesions not accessible to endoscopy. There are two kinds of therapeutic procedures: the first one includes treatments obtained by direct puncture, such as drainage of lung and pleural abscesses. The second option consists in endovascular treatment of either arteriovenous fistulas, bronchial artery embolotherapy of massive haemoptysis, pulmonary artery thrombolysis of massive pulmonary embolism, vena cava filter placement, and stent placement in superior vena cava obstructions.
