Abstract
For the emergency physician, the management of a patient presenting with a wound is not limited to the technical practice of suture. Any trauma requires a diagnostic approach based on the history of the trauma and on the diathesis of the patient, aimed at identifying the lesion hypothesis. Both clinical and complementary investigations allow, on one hand, to confirm or not the hypothesis, and, on the second hand, to help for the therapeutic choice. In case of wounds, the therapeutic choice is based on several techniques that may be undertaken, for a part of them, in the emergency department. The medical argument is based on theoretical bases in order to be efficient in any situation. Then it is possible to describe, step by step, the clinical management, also introducing at the right moment the necessary technical elements.
