Abstract
Fibromyalgia is common in middle-aged women and is characterized by widespread and chronic pain. Others signs include fatigue, sleep disorders, anxiety and depression, irritable bowel syndrome and dysautonomia. Diagnostic criteria have been proposed in 1990 by the American College of Rheumatology. Fibromyalgia physiopathogeny is assumed to be mainly related to allodynia. Treatment is difficult and is based upon the association of anti-depressants, relaxation and rehabilitation. Information of the patient and family, together with the help brought by patients associations remain essential.
