Abstract
Disability is a complex concept which requires looking for medical, social and psychological causes. It can mean a way of adaptability as well as a lack of adaptation. When the disorder is recent, the therapeutic approach is both curative, in search of a curable cause, and rehabilitative. The process is of long duration and needs patience. When established, disability is a heterogeneous state in terms of diseases, incapacities, quality of life and prognosis. It requires a plural therapeutic approach and should be regularly reassessed.
