Abstract
Plants are responsible for 5% of the intoxications listed by Poison Centres. Among all plants considered to be toxic, some are really dangerous whereas others cause only minor troubles, mostly in the digestive sphere. In this contribution, we review the main symptoms possibly induced by plant ingestion and the possible therapeutic alternatives. We analyse about thirty plants selected because of their significant toxicity or because of the frequency of calls received in Poison Centres. The aim of this review is not to draw up an inventory of all toxic plants but to allow the practitioner to know the neurological or cardiac risks possibly related to the ingestion of plants.
