Abstract
With an acute tension of the ureteral lumen above an obstacle, the renal colic constitutes a medico-surgical emergency. Its clinical diagnosis is confirmed by imaging investigations, most often unenhanced helical CT. Treatment consists in intravenous anti-inflammatory drugs. In some cases (renal colic with fever, anuria or hyperalgia), emergency derivation is necessary before any treatment of the obstruction origin (a calculus in 90% of the cases).
