Abstract
The mouth floor is a particular anatomic zone of the oral cavity where specific stomatologic diseases can be located, together with some other lesions of the oral cavity. Anatomic limits of the floor of the mouth are described, followed by the description of the most common diseases affecting this anatomic region, namely: diseases of the mucosa; diseases of the salivary glands; benign tumours; malignant tumours; malformative diseases; infectious diseases; traumatology. Many diseases of the mouth floor are already treated elsewhere in the EMC and we suggest you refer to these articles when additional information is needed.
