Abstract
Tetanus is a disease having low incidence and prevalence in our setting, however it has a high morbidity-mortality (around 25%-50% of deaths in general tetanus), which justifies the need to prevent it. There are a highly effective preexposition vaccination and post-exposition immunoglobulin. Even so, almost all the tetanus cases occur in non-immunized persons or those with inadequate immunization. This makes it necessary for us to try to increase the vaccine coverage of the population that is presently calculated to be below 30% of the adults in Spain.
